Alex Noerdin promotes Asian Games in Bali

Palembang, S Sumatra (Antarasumsel.com) - South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin has promoted Asian 2018 to the people of Bali and invited them to witness the international sporting event.

By coming to Palembang to witness the international sporting event, the visitors will also be able to enjoy the local wealth of culture and natural beauty, Governor Noerdin remarked when attending the Bali & Beyond Travel Fair 2017 (BBTF 2017) at Nusa Dua Convention Center on Thursday evening.

He also invited the participants of BBTF 2017 to visit South Sumatra where cultural, culinary, and sport tourism is awaiting them to enjoy.

Noerdin said South Sumatra has the cultural wealth since the Sriwijaya kingdom that dominated the Indonesian archipelago until Madagascar.

The BBTF 2017 is organized by the Association of the Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA) of Bali chapter, and supported by

the Ministry of Tourism and all tourism stakeholders in Bali.

Although the event takes place in Bali, the Asian Games and the tourism potential of South Sumatra is also promoted during the event.

For the success of Asian Games in Palembang, the South Sumatra governor remarked in Jakarta on Wednesday that the supporting infrastructure was being sped up.

Attending a limited meeting with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in Jakarta, Governor Noerdin said the implementation of the Asian Games is only one year away so that the construction of supporting infrastructure should be accelerated to finish on time.

According to him, the construction of Light Rail Transit (LRT), a toll road, and a flyover is being speed up, and even some time ago three ministers directly reviewed the infrastructure to get first hand information about the progress of the development.

In the limited meeting, President Jokowi urged several ministers and agencies to utilize the budget for Asian Games and Asian Para Games effectively and responsibly.

The president also urged ministries and companies that are constructing facilities for the Asian Games to utilize the budget efficiently and transparently.

Jokowi called on all related parties involved in the construction projects for the Asian Games to not inflate the project`s budget.
